Jones Places Fifth among 13 Year Olds At New York State Golf Association Tournament

Canton's Ryan Jones completed busy six day stretch of top flight golf competition on Friday by placing fifth among the 13 year olds in the Boys 14 Under Flight of the New York State Golf Association Junior Boys and Gilrs Championship at Seven Oakes Golf Course at Colgate University.

Shooting two rounds of 87 for a 174, Jones who represented the SLU Oliver D. Appleton Golf Club, placed fifth behind Tyler Berkman at the NYSGA eClub of the Adirdondacks 80-79-159, Sean Shallat of the Salem Golf Club 79-80-159, Matt Carpenter of the Midvale Country Club 77-83-160 and Tyler Delisanti of the Transit Valley Country Club 86-86-172.

Jones, who won the 12U state title last year, placed 16th overall in the Boys Sub Junior (14 Under Flight) which was won by 14 year old Charlie Fisher of the East Aurora Country Club at 70-75.

Last week Jones placed 47th in a starting field of 103 in the Optimist International World Junior Golf Champion at the Trump International Doral Restort in Miami, FLA and teamed with his dad, Aaron Jones, to tie for first place in the Parent/Child Tournament with a round of 70.
