Kinights Look To Continue Knight Flights In Hoops

BY DAVE SHEA

Just as he was in soccer, Karter Jordan is the only senior on the Lisbon Central Boys Basketball team.

He will be very happy to see the similarities between the fall and the winter season continued. The Golden Knights registered a perfect regular season in soccer with an NAC West Division title, won the Section 10 Class D Championship and rendered a very strong bid to reach the New York State Final Four before suffering a 1-0 loss to Chazy.

Lisbon also won the Class D Baseball title in the spring and reached the Final Four so Coach Bob Jordan's basketball team is looking to continue a major roll in LCS Boys Athletics.

Coach Jordan feels the Knights are well equipped to contend in the NAC West which will be exceedingly challenging starting with defending State Class D Champion Harrisville. Heuvelton, E-K and Hermon-DeKalb are blessed with veteran players and Hammond and Morristown look to be much improved.

Karter Jordan is one of one of five returning regulars from last year's team which went 4-8 in the NAC West and 5-1 in nonleague action and made some major offensive strides in the later stages of the season before falling to Edwards-Knox at the Class D-A-rama. The Knights also feature six graduates from an outstanding and athletic junior varsity team

"Toward the end the of the season we had a stretch when were scoring over 60 points a game. We are looking to pick that up and this year we have as lot of quickness, some good shooters and what I really like is that everyone can handle the ball," said Coach Jordan who will have his team at home on Monday to host a solid NAC Central Division contingent in Salmon River.

"This season our emphasis in practice has been on defense and rebounding."

Karter Jordan will team up the backcourt with junior point guard Jackson LaRock and the five-man veteran unit also includes forward-guard Kaden Mussen, center Hayden McBath and forward-guard Teagan Jordan who at 6-2 can also shift into the post if needed.

Moving up from the JV team which was involved in several outstanding JV games last season are: Alex Martin and Hayes Bouchey who can play in the backcourt and frontcourt, centers Hunter Martin and Jayden Carr and guards Ethan Martin and Greg Wood.

Lisbon will open its NAC West season against Morristown.
