Lisbon Girls Down MCS For First West Win

MORRISTOWN - Defense and rebounding held the keys to victory as Lisbon visited Morristown for match of two NAC West Girls Basketball teams seeking their first division wins. Lisbon gained an advantage in both departments and Alexa McKee came through bigtime with 26 points as the Golden Knights gained a 35-23 victory.

"It is really tough to get a win in our division so you have to be happy with every one," said Lisbon Coach Dicky Marcellus.

"We needed a big scoring night from Alexa McKee and she really came through."

McKee (5 rebounds, 3 steals) scored all of Lisbon's 14 points in the second quarter and tallied eight in the fourth quarter after Morristown pulled within six points lead in the third quarter.

"We hung in there and got it down six points. We moved the ball better tonight and got some good looks but we need to finish better and do a better job at taking our shots when they are there," said Morristown Coach Stan Piercey.

"We are making improvements but right now it is coming slow. We will just keep working at it."

Emma Showers hit two 3-pointers scoring 11 points for Morristown and Rileigh Showers scored six. Olivia McLear scored five points for Lisbon, Brooke Meashaw and Kari Thompson each scored two and Abby Flack controlled nine rebounds.

Hailey Ward scored four points for Morristown and Kaitlynn Ladlee added two.

Lisbon controlled the JV game led by Rachel LaRock (14 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 assists) and Gabby Taylor (10 points, 4 steals).
