Lisbon JV's Rally Past H-D In Darcy Tourney

LISBON - The 22nd Annual Jim Darcy Memorial Tournament got off to vibrant start on Thursday night at the Lisbon Central Gym with Lisbon scoring a 45-36 victory over Hermon-DeKalb in the Junior Varsity opening round.

The varsity openers will be staged tonight with Gouverneur meeting Brushton-Moira at 5:30 p.m. and Lisbon facing Hammond in an NAC West game at 7:15 p.m. Saturday's action begins at noon runs through to the varsity championship game at 4:30 p.m.

In Thursday's game Lisbon came back from a 13-2 first quarter deficit to finish the half trailing just 17-16 due to a strong push from freshmen Matt Kinney and Isaac LaRock before the end of the first half.

Noah Martin finished with 17 points, 11 rebounds and seven steals and Cooper Davison went 7 of 8 from the line in the second half to seal the game. Miles Gendebien played disruptive defense on a very talented Andrew Mathews from HD.

“The boys showed heart and character by regrouping after a difficult first quarter. They are aggressive athletes who played full court man for 4 quarters. We are proud of them," said Lisbon Coach Blake Gendebien.

Matthews finished with 17 points for H-D followed by Kaden Denesha with six and David White with five.
