Lisbon Modified Baseball Team Downs Canton
Jumping out to a five-run lead in the first inning, the Lisbon Central Modified Baseball team downed Canton 9-1 on Friday.
"Our bats came alive early and some aggressive base running helped our cause. Isaiah White, Cooper Rutherford, Coby Mills, Tanner Fonda and Caleb Ghize all got their bats going tonight," said Lisbon Coach Lucas Smith.
"Cooper Rutherford pitched a very good game tonight going six scoreless innings with 13 strike outs and only allowing 2 hits with no runs. Gabriel Smith came in to the game in the top of the 7th inning securing the save striking out 2 and only allowing one run. This was a good test for us tonight playing a bigger school. The boys really came to play and it showed. We have a quick turnaround playing Morristown tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. in Lisbon. I hope the boys can keep the momentum going into next week when we play a very tough opponent in Heuvelton Central. Heuvelton will be a very tough game for as they are always tough."
