Local Waterskiers Win State Titles On Oswegachie Course

The 2020 New York State Slalom Waterski Championships were staged on the Oswegatchie River and hosted by Matt Richardson, Aaron Backus and a group of local skiers on Saturday.

Due ro a change in schedule the 2202 states were staged just a month after the 2019 Championships were held.

State Championships were won by Lelan Carpenter in Boys 1, Jake Backus of Lisbon in Boys 3, Tristan Richardson of Ogdensburg in B4, Zoe Carpenter of Bloomingdale in Girls 3, Azlyn Richardson of Ogdensburg in Girls 4, Sullivan Fogarty in Men's 1, Ryan Mchugh in Men's 2 where Zach Carpenter of Blooming

dale, Terence Fogarty in Men's 4 where Jonathan Murray of Potsdam took second, Peter Littlefield of Tupper Lake in Men's 6 where Brad Smith of Lake Ozonia took second, Robert Reithner in Men's 9, in the Men's Open Nick Leuthaser of Hannawa Falls outdueled Matt Richardson of Ogdensburg.

Whitney Shelhamer of Albany won the Women's 1 title where Allison Barnbach took second.

A USA Waterski points tournament was held on trhe Oswegatchie course on Sunday.
