M-W Boys, Girls Sweep Tupper Lake

The Madrid-Waddington Boys rebounded from their first NAC East loss and the M-W Girls stayed unbeaten in the division with wins over Tupper Lake on Monday.

M-W 73 - Tupper Lake 42: The Yellow Jackets took control with a 19-8 first quarter lead and used their defense as a key to a road win. Brennan Harmer tallied 20 points with four 3-pointers, 11 assists and four steals and Trent Lashua came through with 12 points and six rebounds and a well balanced offense which also featured eight points from Drew Harmer (6 rebounds and 2 steals and Nick Beldock (6 assists), seven points from Jacob Morgan and Kyle Stoner with five points and four assists.

Other scoring came from: Cody Schweinberg (3 points), Colby Beldock (4 points, 3 steals), Jacob Murphy (2).

Eli Kulzer and Noah Varden combined for 17 points and 14 points for Tupper Lake.

M-W 66 - Tupper Lake 15: The Lady Jackets took control in a 21-4 first quarter lead were led in scoring by the four-guard combination of Alexis Sullivan and Lily LaMere with 14 points, Jaelynn Uppstrom with 12 points and Grace Plumley with 12 points. Lydia Thomas tallied six and the scoring was rounded out by: Kayla Dinneen (2), Laney Tiernan (2) and Keli Kingston (4),

Cadence Tyo scored 11 points for Tupper Lake.

In other NAC Boys Basketball games: Chateaugay downed Colton-Pierrepont 63-25, Brushton-Moira downed Parishville-Hopkinton 70-42 and Norwood-Norfolk bested St. Regis Falls 58-40.,

In one interdivision girls game Harrisville downed Colton-Pierrpont 36-26.

Harrisville 36 - C-P 26: The Pirates, who will play their fourth game in five days today, used a strong rebounding effort to prevail over a gritty defensive effort by C-P. The Pirates win featured 23 points, 11 rebounds and four steals from Torie Moore, six points from Chloe Benson, five points, five rebounds and six steals from Hannah LaPlatney and six rebounds off the bench from Amy Manchester. Harlie Moore added three points.

Emma Clemmo scored eight points for C-P and Isabelle Vaccaro and Jaeleigh Jacot followed with five and four points. Amber Erwin scored three points and Landree Chamberlain and Alexis Cuthbert each added two.

CHATEAUGAY, B-M BOYS WIN

Chateaugay 63 - C-P 25: Jonah McDonald tallied 22 points with five rebounds and five steals and Logan Secore netted 12 points with steals and Jeb McDonald was an energizer at both ends of the court with eight rebounds, four assists and five steals.

Billy LaPiene, Teddy Farns and Michael Swartsfigure all scored five points for C-P.

"We got off to a cold start on the offensive end. We got shots, but could not get them to fall. However our defense held serve and Logan Secore got us going in the second quarter. Everyone got valuable minutes tonight and we had guys return from injury. Aiden Tam had a nice game off the bench for us," said Chateaugay Assistant Coach Jason LaPlante. 

B-M 70 - P-H 42: Logan and Parker Bassett scored 19 and 16 points for B-M and Harrison Snell and Burt Chevier countered with 19 and 13 points for P-H.



M-W's Lily LaMere drives the lane in Saturday's win over Thousand Islands at SUNY Canton on Saturday. On Monday LaMere scored 14 points in an NAC East win over Tupper Lake.
