M-W Girls Continue Stellar Defense

MOIRA - There were a lot of new faces in the Madrid-Waddington rotation but the signature defense of last year's Madrid-Waddington Girls Basketball NAC East championship remained unchanged as the Lady Yellow Jackets (2-1) lifted their NAC East record to 2-0 a 50-26 win over Brushton-Moira on Friday.

The Jackets took a 16-6 first quarter lead and allowed just two points in the second quarter to open a 26-8 halftime lead.

Alexis Sullivan and Lily LaMere each scored five points in the first quarter and went on to 14 and 11 points on the night. Laney Tiernan and Grace Plumley netted 10 and eight points and the M-W scoring was rounded out by: Jaelynn Uppstrom (2), Kayla Dinneen (1), Keli Kingston (2) and Anna Brady (2).

Eliza Russell and Anna Poirier led B-M with nine and five points.

In other NAC action of the night Norwood-Norfolk downed Colton-Pierrepont 48-18, Chateaugay checked Parishville-Hopkinton 39-18 and St. Regis Falls downed Tupper Lake 47-19.

In one NAC Central game Malone dropped Salmon River 79-15.

N-N 48 - C-P 18: Kylie Kelison scored 12 points for N-N, Tiffany Fisher followed nine and KJ Belmore and Brianna Straton each finished with seven. Landree Chamberlain and Callie Richards each scored four points for C-P.
