M-W, P-H Gear Up For NAC East Meeting

MADRID - Madrid-Waddington (4-1) geared up its defense for a key game at undefeated and high-scoring Parishville-Hopkinton on Thursday by blanking St. Lawrence Central 2-0 in Tuesday's NAC East Boys Soccer action. P-H climbed to 5-0 in the division with an 8-0 win over Norwood-Norfolk and Brushton-Moira downed Colton-Pierrepont 1-0 and Chateaugay downed St. Regis Falls 9-0 in the other East games.

M-W 2 - SLC 0: John McCall scored on a PK with 27:00 minutes left in the first half and Kyle Stoner scored with 14 seconds left in the second half assisted by Will Murphy. Tommy Storrin stopped nine shots for the shutout

"Our defense did a great job tonight and we kept pressure on them all night. We just have  to find better ways to score. Mason Frary and Sean Hornung just played hard all night for them. I thought Cade VanBuren played solid in the inside tonight and Lucas Ryan and Brennan Harmer controlled the whole middle of the field for us," said M-W Coach Ryan Robinson.

"We go to Parishville-Hopkinton on Thursday and it is always a battle."

P-H 8 - N-N 0: Peyton Snell tallied five goals and passed out an assist, Brendan Phippen scored twice and Brandon Wilkes tallied a single goal for the Panthers.

"We have a lot of race horses on this team and they were really running today. Our subs got a lot of time and Brandon Wilkes came off the bench and scored, " said P-H Coach Mike Castanza.

"N-N played hard and Caleb Knowles made some nice saves for us."

Caleb Knowles stopped seven shots for the shutout and Connor Paige handled 11 shots for N-N.

B-M 1 - C-P 0: Justin Kennedy converted a rebound chance in the first half as the Panthers handed the Colts their first league loss. George Webb stopped six shots for the shutout and the combination of Aiden Knight and Harlee Besio made seven saves for C-P.
