Maranatha Downs OBGC In CYO Hoops

Marantha defeated the Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club on Saturday at St. Joseph's Academy to stay tied for the lead in the Franklin CYO Basketball League.

Maranatha 67, OBGC 28.

The winners were led by Brayden Powell with 24 points, followed by Eddie Russell and Jeremy LeClair who had 15 points apiece. Others scoring were Ryan Avery with eight and  Kyle Avery with three.

Ogdensburg was led by Stephen Javier with eight points followed by Tyler George with five and Bryce Redmond with four.Conner O'Shea, Nick Davidson, and Frank Markelle each scored two points.

Citizen Advocates 51, Bangor 33.

The winners were lead by Dawson Scharf with 17 points followed by Alex Hanna with 12 and Brayden Dietz with eight points and eight rebounds. Nick Bertrand added seven, Blake Rivers had four, and Toby Vermette had three to round out the scoring.

Bangor was led by Caiden LaMay with 20 points, followed by Tyson Preve with six, Connor Smith had five, and Scott McCray Jr had two points and five rebounds.

St. John Bosco 49, Chateaugay 45.

There are no undefeated teams left in CYO Basketball as St John Bosco pulled off a stunning upset of undefeated Chateauguay. The difference in the game was the third quarter where Bosco outscored their opponents 15 to 5. Conner Chevrier led the winners with nine points followed by Lynden Webb and Seth Gonia with eight points each, with Webb hauling in 7 rebounds and cashing in two free throws late in the fourth quarter to help preserve the win.  Others scoring were Josh Bova and Jeremy Lamitie with six points apiece followed by Austin St-Denis and Logan Hohol with four points each.

 Chateaugay was led by Cody Woodard with 19 points followed by Carter Tower with 12 while Hunter Trombley and Brady Magoon each scored five and Julia Bosley added a free throw. Poor foul shooting cost Chateaugay dearly as they missed ten in the fourth quarter and made only six of 21 for the whole game.

FBMM 53, Smitty's 50.

Zedynn Poirier led the winners with 19 points followed by Sage Sovie with 13. Other scorers were Garrett Osborn with 7, Jeb Shea with six, Ethan LaVarre with four and Connor Hanna with two.

Smitty's bid to break into the win column fell just short, as they were outscored 16 to 11 in the fourth quarter. Brady Sweet led Smitty's with 19 points followed by Nate Martin with 11. Others scoring were Lucas Saumier with nine, Kelson Preve and Logan McManon with four points each, and Jarrett Sweet with three.

Current Standings: Chateaugay, Maranatha and St John Bosco all 5-1, Citizen Advocates 4-2, FBMM 2-4, Ogdensburg 1-4, Bangor 1-5, and Smitty's 0-5.
