McNally Leads Nazareth In Homecoming
CANTON – Freshmen Nathan McNally and Nathan Bowers were the top two finishers for the Nazareth College men's cross country team Saturday as the Golden Flyers took 18th place at the NCAA Atlantic Regional and NCAA Championship qualifier race at St. Lawrence University.
Running within 20 miles of his Ogdensburg home, McNally was 82nd overall with a time of 26:48.5 as he improved 13 positions in the final 1.5 kilometers of the 8K event. Bowers was close behind him the entire race and finished 86th with a time of 26:52.8.
Junior Christopher Celecki was next for the Golden Flyers as he crossed the finish line in 117th place while fellow junior Michael Brown and sophomore Joshua Tomaka rounded out the Nazareth scoring in 142nd and 149th positions respectively.
Geneseo won the team title with 30 points and four of the top six finishing spots followed by Rensselaer (57 points), St. Lawrence (136), Ithaca (137), Oneonta (166), Ramapo (240), TCNJ (242), Rochester (276), Rowan (287) and RIT (287) to round out the top 10 teams. Nazareth was 18th with 576 points.
The Golden Flyers were the top Empire finishing team as St. John Fisher was 22nd and Empire 8 team champion Utica was 26th. Houghton was 27th and Alfred was 36th.
