Molson Maples Team Steps Up To Help OBGC

The Ogdensburg Molson Maples Hockey Team recently donated $500 to the Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club. The donation is to help assist funding for the club after it was announced that there would be no Expo this year to ensure public safety. The Maples are hoping that other organizations will follow their lead and donate to help local youth as the Expo is the club's largest fund-raiser.

"The Maples are also encouraging our community to buy Expo raffle tickets or make cash donations to help our youth," said a spokesman of the team."

OPTIONS FOR DONATIONS TO CLUB

The Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club made a painstaking decision on Thursday that Expo 2020, scheduled for March 27,28th and 29th, was canceled due to the concerns regarding the Coronavirus and the potential health risks. The St. Lawrence County Health Department is recommending that large gatherings should be avoided.

"We thank the hundreds of volunteers, vendors and businesses for your continued support of the Expo and the club youth each year. Too much is yet unforeseen to try and reschedule in the near future. The club relies almost entirely on the generosity of the community to support a budget of just over $400,000," said OBGC Executive Director Tom Luckie Jr. is a statement made of the OBGC Facebook Page.

Luckie also emphasized that Expo will continue next year.

"Expo is our major fundraiser and is counted on for one quarter of the operating budget raising approximately $90,000 and we are asking for your support as we will continue to sell our Expo raffle tickets and other fundraising events in the future", he said. Anyone wishing to help the club recoup some of the projected income from Expo 2020 is urged to make a donation to the club and there are several options to do. A GoFundMe account has been established on Kim Bell's Facebook page and as of Friday evening the response has been stunning with $4500 donated. Donations can also be made by visiting the Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club's Website www.obgclub.com and donating with any major credit card on Paypal.

Donations made also be mailed to the Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club, PO Box 555, Ogdensburg, N.Y., 13669 or by stopping at the Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club on Patterson Street and make a donation in person.

Misty Griffith made a great point on a faceboo post."Please consider donating , every little bit helps. Even if it’s just the amount you would pay to get through the doors! The Ogdensburg Boys Girls Club is a staple in Ogdensburg and we all need to help as much as we can for all the children that go there."

EXPO RAFFLE TICKET SALES GO ON

The Expo raffles will go on as planned with Board Members, Staff and Volunteers selling tickets in the community or also available at the club.

The Early Bird draw for the $10 ticket will take place on Saturday, March 21st at SIPS with the Grand Prizes for the $10 ticket including $5000 donated by Blevins Auto Group taking place on March 29th at 4:30 p.m. at a place to be determined.

"We will post the location of the draw our facebook page. We are so thankful to all who support our organization," said Mr. Luckie.
