Morristown Central Fall Sports Signups Available

From Morristown Central School

Fall Sports Sign-ups Are Now Available!

Due to COVID-19, we've created a new MCS Athletics website to explain how student-athlete sports physicals are being handled. The New York State Education Department has stated that school districts are to "continue to accept any physical examination form conducted on or before January 30, 2021 and allow parents/guardians additional time to provide the completed exam form to the school. Student athletes can participate in the fall 2020 sports season without a current health exam if they meet certain criteria - if you had physicals in both the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 school years. There is a form that needs to be filled out and returned 30 days before the start of the season to qualify for that exception."

The directions for completing the sports registration forms can be found on the school website.

In addition to the new site, we have made a change to how student-athletes register for participating in sports. These changes are: 1. Student-athletes can now register to participate in sports (soccer, basketball, cheerleading, baseball, and softball) for the entire school year. This will save families time from having to re-register for each different sports season.

2. Student-athletes will sign up for a sport - for example - Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, etc. The Athletic Director and coaching staff will determine the level of participation - Modified, JV, or Varsity - for each student-athlete.

3. This will better inform District personnel in terms of the number of participants for each sports season.

4. Student-athletes who do not take advantage of this feature can still sign up for future sports seasons if they decide to play later during the year.

As of right now, the Varsity Soccer season is scheduled to begin on Monday, August 24, 2020. The Modified Soccer season is scheduled to begin on Monday, August, 31, 2020. These dates are tentative and may end up changing.
