Mound Gems Anchor Knights' Twinbill Sweep

A baseball doubleheader was a nationwide staple of the American Memorial Day Weekend for decades.

Lisbon Central and host Potsdam Central revived the tradition on Sunday holding an NAC Interdivisional twinbill.

The twinbill proved very memorable for the undefeated Golden Knights who received precise complete pitching efforts from Griffin Walker and Jayden Williams to gaining wins of 9-1 and 5-3 from the Sandstoners of the NAC Central Division.

Griffin Walker and Jayden Williams pitched great for us today," said Lisbon Coach Dave Gravlin.

"Defensively we made some mistakes but we were able to limit the damage and get the wins."

Lisbon 9 - Potsdam 1: Griffin Walker struck out four and walked only one in a five-inning two hitter where the Knights erupted for a six runs in the fourth inning. The Knights' batting order produced eight different players with a hit, an RBI or run scored led by Tyler Gravlin who doubled twice going 2/3 with an RBI. Jack LaRock doubled and singled with two RBIs, Ivan LaRock doubled with an RBI and Trenton Williams doubled with an RBI.

Ben LaRock and Jayden Williams singled in a run and Lucas Gravlin and Colin Parmeter also scored.

Parker Canedy and Mike Vadas singled for the lone Potsdam hits and Canedy, Austin Washburn and Greyden Griffin all pitched two innings combining on seven strikeouts.

Lisbon 5 - Potsdam 3: Jayden Williams struck out four and walked just one and allowed no earned runs in a five-inning complete game where the Knights erased a 2-1 deficit with four runs in the third inning. Jake Glover allowed just two earned runs in going the distance for Potsdam.

Ivan LaRock went 2/2 at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored and Lucas Gravlin also went 2/2. Trenton Williams singled, Jayden Williams drove in a run and Jack LaRock and Tyler Gravlin scored.

Lisbon will return to action hosting Edwards-Knox in its Senior Day game on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Glover went 2/3 to lead the Potsdam hitting and Trevor Bates, Mike Vadas, Luke Brosell and Hunter Grant all singled.
