N-N Downs Potsdam In Key OT Ice Win

After setting up three goals in regulation Madrid-Waddington student-athlete John McCall completed a memorable night for the Norwood-Norfolk hockey team by scoring a short-handed goal from Bobby Voss in overtime to give Icemen a 4-3 NAC interdivisional victory over Potsdam on Monday.

The Icemen climbed to 8-3 in the NAC Division race with 7-3 OFA which hosts Potsdam on Wednesday. The other Division II game of the night saw Malone and St. Lawrence Central play to a 2-2 tie.

On Sunday in nonleague action the Syracuse Cougars downed Potsdam 3-1 and Clarence won the Salmon River Tournament with a 5-2 victory over the host Shamrocks.

N-N 4 - Potsdam 3 OT: Bobby Voss scored a pair of first period goals from John McCall and McCall set up Reed Gravlin for a 3-0 N-N (8-3, 10-6-1) lead in the second period. Potsdam (2-3-1, 3-10) rallied for an overtime reprieve as Will Varney scored from Bryan Jones and Romano Sergi the second period and Sergi scored a pair of third period tallies off assists from Jones, Danner Dorothy and Logan McGargar.

N-N goalie Thomas Cafarella handled 21 saves and Cole Eakins made 28 stops in the Potsdam crease.

Malone 2 - SLC 2: Jarrett St. Hilaire and Brendan Phippen each delivered one goal and one assist for SLC while Owen Eels and Seth Lockwood scored for Malone. Malone's Jeremiah Scharf and SLC's Torran Robertson each made 21 saves in the game.
