N-N, Massena Post NAC Hockey Wins
Bobby Voss scored three goals as Norwood-Norfolk claimed a 2-1 NAC Division II hockey win over Salmon River on Wednesday. N-N (2-1) dropped Salmon River in its league opener and 3-0 Massena opened its league season with a 6-4 victory over St. Lawrence Central.
N-N 4 - Salmon River 3: Bobby Voss scored three goals with the eventual game-winner with 9:40 to play as the Flyers rewarded goaltender Thomas Cafurella who stopped 25 shots while Salmon River keeper Alex Cree handled just 10 saves.
Reed Gravlin also scored for N-N and Riley Ashley passed out two assists. Tim Cook scored two goals for the Shamrocks and Connor Lewis tallied one goal with one assist. Zach Durrant passed out two assists and Gavin Cook-Avery added a setup.
Massena 6 - SLC 4: Massena (3-0) followed up weekend shutouts over Niagara Wheatfield (3-0) and Mamaronaek (6-0) in Long Island to prevail on the strength of two third period goals by Nicolas Morrell who scored three goals in the contest. Mikey Kunz scored twice in the win, Zach Monacelli netted one goal and Brendan Finnegan, Patrick Barkley, Aidan Rufa and Terry Burns added assists.
Brendan Phippen scored once and assisted on three goals for SLC which received two goals from Mason Frary and one marker from Jarrett St. Hilaire. Noah Adams and Kade Hayes passed out assists and Torran Robertson stopped 20 shots in goal.
