N-N's Dinneen Sets Gouverneur Course Record At NAC Cross Country Meet 1

GOUVERNEUR - The Northern Conference Cross Country nation assembled at the Gouverneur Country Club for the first league meet of the season on Tuesday.

Norwood-Norfolk came away with impressive runs to he Boys and Girls Championship and N-N's Maddie Dinneen set a new course record.

Dylan Perry of Malone led the boys field.

OFA was incomplete in both races but the Blue Devils were cited for lots of improvement on the challenging topography of the Wildcats' home course.

BOYS RACE

Norwood-Norfolk dominated the boys team race, finishing first with 39 points followed by Canton at 64, Malone at 66, Potsdam at 102, Gouverneur with 126, Salmon River with 155 and Massena with 156.. Dylan Perry of Malone led the boys race from wire to wire.

He was closely followed by Robert Reed from Canton. Within the last mile Dylan pulled away for a meet best 18:06.55 finish. Reed was passed by Sylvain Foisy from Potsdam, they finished 18:30 and 18:32 respectively. Clayton Reed led N-N in fourth place in 18:36.95.

Gouverneur Cole Siebels finished 6th place on his home course. Thomas Hopsicker, Lawton Colbert and Levi Sochia ran 7-8-9 for N-N

Cody Fifield was OFA's first runner in 44th place in 22:07.36 followed by Mitchel McCarthy at 45, Brogan LaRose at 64and Connor McRoberts at 75.

The Varsity Girls race was dominated by Madelyn Dineen from Norwood, running a new course record in 20:02.68. She broke the old course record by 13 seconds that was held by Laura Pierce of Canton.

N-N won the team title with 45 points, followed closely by Potsdam with 56 and Gouverneur with 57 points, Canton with 81, Malone with 103 and Salmon River with 152.

The next nine runners traded position through the entire race.  Issabelle Shattaw of Potsdam took second followed by Shannon Colbert of Norwood-Norfolk, Arianna Whittaker of Canton, Rikki Griffith of Gouverneur and Rachel Hewey of N-N.

Lexi Beaulieu delivered a strong 11th place run in 23:27.5 to lead OFA and Emma Murray and Brianna McRoberts placed 37th and 54th.

OFA fielded two complete teams which ran well in modified races which were led by Norwood-Norfolk's Zoe Griffith (11:32.5) and Natalie Pearson (11:53.37) of Canton and Bradley Logan (9:40.88) and Dominic Fiacco (9:55.11) of N-N.

Jimmy Martin (11:22.39) took 15th in the Boys Race as OFA's top finisher followed by teammates in Tanner Smith 23, Landen Polniak 24, Branden Rivers 25, Dylan Rivers 39, Adrian Place 43, Peyton Worden 45 and Gavin Shaver 51.

Jacie Lalone led the OFA Girls in 14:14.31 followed by teammates Jessica Harman 39, Emma Crews 40, Evelyn Davis 41 and Maive Putman 44.
