No. 7 Clarkson Downs Brown For 4-Pt Weekend

Junior Zach Tsekos (Montreal, QUE) tallied two goals and two assists and sophomore Josh Dunne scored twice on the power play to highlight Clarkson's 4-1 victory over Brown in ECAC Hockey action before 2,842 fans at Cheel Arena to complete a four-point weekend. Ranked 7th in the nation, the Golden Knights, who defeated Yale 3-1 on Friday, improve to 19-6-2 overall and hold down first place in ECAC Hockey with a 12-3 league mark. The Green and Gold will be looking for their fourth straight win this season over archrival St. Lawrence when they battle the Saints in Canton next Saturday. Clarkson continued to excel on special teams, going 2-of-3 on the power play, while killing off all four of Brown's man-advantage chances. The Knights came out flying in the first period against Brown, outshooting the visitors 14-4 en route to a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes. Dunne opened the scoring just 4:03 in, finishing off a pass in front from Captain Devin Brosseau (St. Lambert, QUE) while on the man-advantage. Tsekos picked up his first point of the second with the second assist. At 17:44, Tsekos jammed in a puck at the top of the crease with linemates, junior Jack Jacome (Caledon, ONT) and freshman Anthony Romano (Richmond Hill, ONT) assisting. The Knights built their lead to 3-0 early in the second has Dunne, positioned in front, connected again on the power play for his third goal of the weekend and 12th of the season. Senior Haralds Egle (Liepaja, Latvia) and Tsekos assisted. The Bears got on the scoreboard with Colin Burston's first goal of the season at 7:28 of the final frame. Brown pulled its goaltender with just over three minutes left to play, but Clarkson spoiled the move when Tsekos took a pass from Romano at center ice and sent a shot into the empty net for his second goal of the night and seventh of the season at 18:07. The Knights outshot the Bears 31-26. Frank Marotte, Clarkson's graduate transfer in the crease, posted 25 saves.
