OBGC Suffers 2 Close CYO Basketball Losses

Chateaugay, St John Bosco, FBMM, and Smitty's all picked up wins In CYO action Saturday. For Smitty's, it was their first win of the season and the Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club turned in two solid outings in competitive losses.

FBMM 57, Ogdensburg 53 Zedynn Poirier led the winners with 25 points and seven rebounds followed by Ethan LaVarre with 15 points and six rebounds. Other scorers were Skylar Gravel with eight, Garrett Osborn with seven, and Connor Hanna with two. Trailing 20 to four after the first quarter, the boys from the 'Burg won the last three quarters but it wasn't quite enough for the win. Tyler George led the winners with 14 points, followed by Michael Bice with 12, including a half court buzzer beater to end the first half. Markell Johnson and Nick Davidson each added nine, while Bryce Redmond tossed in four. Others scoring were Stephen Javier and Conner O'Shea who each scored two and Scott O'Shier who added a free throw. Cold shooting in the first quarter put them in a hole that they never got out of.

St John Bosco 47, Bangor 40. The winners were again led by Seth Gonia with 11 points followed by Josh Bova with 10 points while Logan Hohol had nine points and nine rebounds. Also scoring were Jeremy Lamitie with seven points and seven rebounds, and Darrien Boyea with four. Conner Chevrier, Austen St Denis, and Lynden Webb each added two to the winning cause. Bangor was led by Dryden Spinner with a super double-double 21 points and 25 rebounds, followed by Conner Smith with 12. Scott McCray Jr chipped in with six points and Ricky Earle added a Singleton.

Smitty's 67, Ogdensburg 59. Nate Martin led the winners with 21 points and seven rebounds, followed by Brady Sweet with 14, Jarrett Sweet with 12, and Bradley Smith with 10. Logan McManon added five points and hauled in eight rebounds, and Lucas Saumier drained a three early in the game. Ogdensburg was again led by Tyler George with 18 points, followed by Stephen Javier with 13 and Michael Bice with 11. Bryce Redmond followed with six, Nick Davidson added four, and Markelle Johnson and Scott O'Shier each added three.

Chateaugay 42, Citizens Advocate 37. The winners were led by Cody Woodard with 25 points followed by Matt Jarvis with 12 points 8 rebounds and four assists. Brady Magoon scored three points and Julia Bosley two for the winners while Isaiah Rivera hauled in seven rebounds and Carter Tower had two assists and two rebounds. CA was led by Dawson Scharf with 15 points and 16 rebounds followed by Nick Bertrand and Blake rivers with six points each and Rivers pulled down 12 rebounds. Others scoring were Alex Hanna with five, Dylan Warner with three, and Brayden Dietz with two points and five rebounds.

Current Standings: Chateaugay 9-1, Maranatha 8-2, St John Bosco 8-2, Citizen Advocates 6-4, Bangor and FBMM 3-7, Ogdensburg and Smitty's 1.
