OFA Cheerleaders Lead Section 10 Champs At States

ROCHESTER - Just as they did at the Section 10 Championships, Ogdensburg Free Academy was the top scorer at the New York State Public High School Championships which were staged at Rochester Institute of Technology on Saturday.

Competing in the Division II Large School Division OFA, coached by Jackie Pinkerton and Victoria Peabody, placed eighth out of 13 teams in the Preliminary Round with 70.93 points and performed without a deduction. Mount Sinai of Section 11 led the Preliminary Round with 92.98 points and upped its total to 93.63 in the finals to win the state title. Seaford took second at 93.25 and Putnam Valley placed third at 96.85

Members of the OFA team are: Evelyn Arras, Melissa Barr, Mikaela Bova, Arianna David, Kaylee Gilbert, Aubrionna Jenney, Hailey Lindley, Ella O'Neil, Isabelle Powers, Katherine Barkley, Taylor Bell, Rylee Bresett, Kaydence Fraser, Delia Hooper, Emma LaFlair, MaKayla LaFlair, Sadie O'Neil, Hailey Weber, Brooke Barr, Caitlin Beyette, Tava Colburn, Emily French, Summer Jenks, Allison Latimer, Myah Myers, Erin Perretta and Abby Williams.

Section 10 Small Team Champion Heuvelton scored 68.43 points to place 12 out of 14 teams in the D2 Small Team Preliminary round. The Bulldogs, coached Mandi McNamara Frank Jo Besio, also performed without a deduction.

Maryvalle of Section 6 led the preliminary round with 83.6 points and scored 83.28 in the finals to take the state title. Plainedge took second with 82.7 points and Eastchester placed third at 80.23.

Heuvelton's varsity squad features: Kara Ashlaw, Ashleigh Calton, Luna Kirby, Sabrina Osuch, Carley Simmons, Lindsey Barnett, Kaitlyn Dietschweiler, Payton McDevitt, Adreannah Rishe, Lydia Vaughan, Deanna Bellinger, Larissa Hays, Sydney Morley, Emily Rybak and Megan Woodard.

Madrid-Waddington, coached by Danielle Armstrong and Emily Hurley, scored 65.03 points to take 11th among 14 teams in the Co-Ed Division preliminaries and also performed without a deductrion in their school's first appearance in the states. Eastridge led the Preliminary Round with 82.88 points and scored 84.93 points in the finals to take the state title. Webster Thomas placed second at 82.63 and Freeport took third at 80.88.

The Yellow Jacket squad features: Hanna Ahrens, Olivia Bush,. Julia Domena, Hannah Kirby, Emma Maskell, Kassidy Roberts, Maddison Armstrong, Cassidy Hargrave, Timothy Lashua, Raven Murphy, Madison White, Megan Burwell, Emma Davis, Marissa Hawkins, Emma Martin, Shaylyn Reed and Meredith White.
