OFA Dedicates Banners; In Home Debut

OFA junior Tristan Richardson was honored before Saturday's home wrestling match with Malone for recording his 100th career win at last Saturday's North Country Invitational Tournament where he placed second. Richardson joined Anthony Lespinasse (101), Troy Cunningham (121), Andrew Cole (105), Bailey Phelps (102), Tanner LaPiene (185), Brody Sheppard (183), Cordell David (146) and Zach Roberts (150) in the OFA 100-Win Club.

He earned his 101st win in Saturday's match where OFA made its home opener and dedicated banners on the wall of the William L. Dwyer Gym which honor the program's 100-Win Club, Section 10 Champions and State Placers. Malone controlled the action posting a 54-30 victory.

Richardson lifted his season record to 17-3 and his career mark to 101-53 with a well-earned pin over Alex Boyea 12 seconds into the third period of the 160-pound bout.

"Tristan had to work for his this one. He didn't make weight so he had to move up. He was tested but he worked very hard and he got the pin," said OFA Coach Bill Mitchell who will lead his team back into tournament action on Saturday at Peru.

In slipping to 0-3 in NAC action OFA scored with pins by Richardson at 160 and Rob Downey at 126 and forfeits received by Archie Baker at 220, Brayden Wall at 106 and Mitchel McCarthy at 120. Downey gained his fall in 26 seconds against Brodie Smithers.

Malone posted pins by Broadie Fountain over Joey George at 1:56 at 285, Lucas Martin over Adam Calton at 4:20 at 132 pounds, Cayden Carter over Dylan Moran at 1:119 at 152 pounds, Alfred McNeil over Blake Hall 0:58 at 170 pounds and Hunter White over Xavier Stewart at 0:46 at 170 pounds.

Chase White (99), Alex Recore (113), Izaiah Robideau (145) and Bryan Noelette (195) all received forfeits for the Huskies (1-1).

Ashton Amo and Collin Brenno recorded wins for OFA in the modified matches.



OFA junior Tristan Richardson was joined on the mat by his parents Jackie and Matt Richardson as Coach Bill Mitchell presented a plaque honoring Tristan's achievement of reaching 100 career wins.


The banners honoring OFA's 100-Win Club, Section 10 Champions and state placers were dedicated on Saturday before a home match with Malone.

Former OFA wrestlers Rick Ledwith, Kris Folsom, Tanner Richardson, Zach Roberts, Rick Calton, Pat McCarthy and Mitch Brenno were introduced as the wrestling banners on the wall of the gym were dedicated.
