OFA Eyes Vball Comeback After Loss To Raiders

MASSENA - On Tuesday OFA secured sole possession of the NAC West Division Girls Volleyball championship at 7-1 with a straight set Senior Night win over Madrid-Waddington.

On Wednesday NAC East Division co-leader Massena (7-2 East, 11-3) used the emotion of its Senior Night to help fuel a 25-22, 25-20, 17-25 sweep over the Devils (11-3 overall).

"Playing a team on Senior Night is tough because teams tend to come out hot on their Senior Night. We did it to Madrid-Waddington and Massena did it to us," said OFA Coach Sue McLean.

"They are a good team which played well and as a team we did not play up to our potential. But we just have put it behind us and move on to the playoffs where we can not have any off nights. We don't play until the Class B finals on Nov. 5 against either Malone or Salmon River so it is very good that we are going to the Beekmantown Tournament on Saturday. Canton and Plattsburgh High will also be there. Every team is good so it will a good opportunity to bounce back in some high quality volleyball."

Emily Farrand took scoring honors for OFA at Massena with 8 points with 2 aces and 4 kills. Rosie Jeneault delivered a team-high 5 kills with 4 points, Jordyn Tupper passed out eight assists and Melissa Barr handled six digs.

Other contributions were: Abby Raven with 4 kills and 1 block, Gabrielle Morley with 4 points, 1 ace and 1 kill, Celia Henry with 3 points, Jenna Mitchell with 5 points and 1 ace and Emma LeBeau with 1 point and 1 block.
