OFA Gains First Volleyball Win Over Chateaugay
Updated: Sep 12, 2019
CHATEAUGAY - OFA's trip to Chateaugay produced some break-through firsts in the volleyball history between the two programs.
The Lady Devils recorded their program's first win over Chateaugay in the long tenure of Coach Sue McLean and for first time they won three straight sets against Bulldogs after bounding back from a 25-19 loss with wins of 25-14, 25-19 and 25-22.
"We won two sets from Chateaugay in the Saranac Central Tournament where we won nine of 14 sets in a very long day. So we felt that we could not only play with them beat them tonight. But they have such a great program," said Coach McLean after the 2-0 Devils recorded a second straight interdivisional win.
"Chateaugay serves very well and in the first game we were content just to return serves. In the second game we started to set up more and they had no answer for us in the middle where Rosie Jeneault led the way. But we still had to grind out those wins especially in the fourth set."
Rosie Jeneault led the Devils attack at the net with eight kills and two blocks complemented by three points and two digs. Emily Farrand led the serving with 13 points and four aces and added five kills, four digs and two assists. Jordyn Tupper orchestrated the offense with 14 assists and added one kill and one dig.
The victory also featured 11 points, two aces and four kills from Emma LeBeau, nine points, four aces, three kills and one block by Abby Raven; Jenna Mitchell with nine points and two aces, Celia Henry with seven points, three aces, four kills and three assists, a strong defensive effort by Melissa Barr with five digs and Gabrielle Morley with three skills.
