OFA Girls Climb To 3-0 Defeating Gouverneur

GOUVERNEUR - On Friday night OFA downed Massena in an emotional five-set NAC Girls Volleyball series where both teams were extended to the limit.

Just a matter of hours later the Blue Devils were on the road to Gouverneur on Saturday morning with one goal in mind...avoiding any semblance of a letdown and gain a 3-0 start in a matter four days.

They did just that gaining a 25-14, 25-10, 25-14 victory and their second win of the season over the Wildcats (1-3). The teams will square off again on Monday at OFA in the Blue Devils' Senior Night where a 5 p.m. ceremony will preceed 5:15 p.m. start.

"The girls had a goal in mind and they were a business. We really served well with only five errors in 70 serves for a percentage of 93. Gouverneur has some good players but we just took control at the start and never let up," said OFA Coach Sue McLean.

"Emma LeBeau had a tremendous match today, serving and defensively. We want to thank Gouverneur for scheduling a third match with us."

LeBeau served for 14 points with five aces, three kills and four digs combining with three other players who served for 10 points or more.

Emily Farrand led the way with team highs of 20 points and eight kills, four aces and two digs. Abby Raven served for 13 points with five aces, two kills and one dig and Gabrielle Morley netted 12 points with six kills, four aces, two assists and three digs. Jordyn Tupper continued her prolific playmaking with 13 assists.

Rounding out the effort were: Jenna Mitchell with two points, one assist, one kill and one dig; Mallory Morley with three points and four assists, Aubrey Love with two kills and one point and Taryn Sholette with six points.

Maya Bartleson led the Wildcats with 11 points, three kills and one dig. Karissa Stowell scored eight points with five digs and Lexi Devlin was very active with six points, one kill, one block and two digs.

"We had a better team effort today than last night which I was happy with," said Gouverneur Coach Nick Costa.

SALMON RIVER, CHATEAUGAY WIN

In two Franklin County matchups Salmon River downed Brushton-Moira 3-0 and Chateaugay dropped Malone 3-1.

SR 3 - B-M 0:Tegan Phalen picked up five kills for the 0-3 in a 25-27, 25-12, 25-13 loss to Salmon River (3-0). Madison Wilcox added five points for the Panthers.

Chat 3 - Malone 1: Ayana Adams delivered five kills in the Bulldogs, (2-0) 25-13, 25-22, 21-25, 25-16 victory. Mackenzie Lane scored 16 points with 10 kills for Malone (2-1).

ST. LAWRENCE CENTRAL SWIMS PAST POTSDAM

In other NAC Girls Swimming meet staged on Saturday St. Lawrence Central downed Potsdam.

The fivesome of Ella Bellinger (200 MR, 100 Breaststroke, 400 Fs Relay), McKenna Bowles (200 IM), Bowles, (200 IM, 400 Fs Relay), Kenadee Love (200 MR, 50 Fs, 400 Fs Relay) and Rebecca Nezezon (200 Fs, 200 Fs R, 400 Fs R) all figured in three wins for the Larries. Sina Lufkin won the 100 backstroke for Potsdam.
