OFA Girls Cruise To First Win of the Season

OFA delivered 18 personal bests on Thursday in an NAC Swimming loss at Gouverneur.
On Tuesday, at home, the Lady Devils rendered the same type of team effort with several personal bests and secured their first win of the season in a 122-36 victory over Salmon River.
Highlighting the Devils' efforts was Myah Myers swimming her way into the OFA All-Time Top 10 elite with a 2:38.75 victory in the 200 Individual Medley . Myers cruised into eighth place overall in the 200 IM in program annals passing Kylie Barr at 2:39.04 and Jen Bracy at 2:39.08.
"Myah swam a great time and it was just her first time swimming the event. She wanted to try it and she really looked good," said OFA Coach John Tebo.
The depth of the OFA effort manifested itself early with a 1-2 finish in the lead off event, the 200 Medley Relay. The quartet of Katherine Barkley, Lily Mallette, Avery Kuhn and Hannah Powers took first in 2:17.56 and Myah Myers, Mckenna Brooks, Sophia Bobb and Isabelle Powers took second in 2:23.38.
The Lady Devils also posted 1-2 finishes in the 200 and 400 Freestyle Relays.
"Going 1-2 in the first relay was a good start. This is a good group of girls who work very hard," said Coach Tebo.
"All of the girls are swimming very well.
The Devils also registered 1-2-3 individual finishes with Avery Kuhn 1:17.22, Sophia Bobb 1:3001 and Madison Bleau 1:42.96 in the 100 Butterfly; Katherine Barkley (1:03.11), Isabelle Powers (1:17.71) and Elizabeth Lemke (1:18.38) in the 100 Freestyle and Myah Myers (6:16.91), Naveah Lockwood (7:07.24) and Bailey Friot (8:11.18) in the 500 Freestyle.
Other medalist swims came from Katherine Barkley in the 100 Backstroke in 1:14.95, Avery Kuhn in the 100 Breaststroke in 1:27.25 and Hannah Powers in the 50 Freestyle in 29.38.
The winning 200 Freestyle Relay team was Isabelle Powers, Hannah Powers, Megan Reed and Kiera Duprey in 2:08.58 with Elizabeth Lemke, Bailey Friot, Grace Shea and Sophia Bobb taking second 2:17.54.
The quartet of Myah Myers, Avery Kuhn, Hannah Powers and Katherine Barkley 3:52.97 paced the 400 Freestyle Relay in 3:52.97 and second place went to Kiera Duprey, Elizabeth Lemke, Megan Reed and Bailey Friot in 5:21.48.
Salmon River's lone first place swim came from Emily Healy in the 200 Freestyle in 2:28.41 and Navaeh Lockwood took second for OFA in 2:34.92.
