Potsdam Girls Hold Lead Downing Salmon River

Potsdam traveled to Fort Covington and dominated play against host Salmon River winning 5-1 to continue its drive for the NAC Central Girls Soccer title. Potsdam (7-1-1) scored its first goal 10 minutes into the game and within the next 3 minutes went up 3-0.

At 29:49, backfielder Louisa Moosbrugger dispossessed a Salmon River forward and chipped a ball to Sophia Janoyan who alluded three defenders and rifled the ball just inside the bottom right post at 27:53.

Less than a minute later, Janoyan scored what would be the game winner.  She dribbled down the right sideline, then dribbled towards the box and slid a low left footed shot just inside the right post.  Forty seconds later Janoyan split defenders with a killer pass into midfield to Luca Pecora.  Pecora broke away from her defender and unleashed a ball just under the bar for Potsdam’s third goal in under 3 minutes.

With 12:04 left in the half, the ball was in the mix. It was kicked back out to Potsdam’s Sophie Compeau on the 18.  She chipped a ball over the goaltenders arms and just under bar. 

At halftime the score was 4-0.

Midway through the second half, Potsdam scored its fifth goal.  Janoyan near midfield chipped a long ball into the 18. Pecora ran down the ball and  slid a shot inside the far right post.

With 15:10 left to play In the game Salmon River's (2-6-2) Joryan Adams scored when Potsdam failed to clear the ball on three attempts around the 18.  Adams took advantage and short hopped a shot off the hands of Potsdam’s goalie Taylor Benda.
