OFA Modified Boys Runners Win NC Invitational
The OFA Modified Boys Cross Country team earned first place honors at the North Country Invitational which was hosted by Norwood-Norfolk on Saturday. The Blue Devils, who are coached by Diane Jeneault, scored 25 points to prevail over the Flyers at 30.
The young Devils prevailed by running as a team as they did not a top five finisher. Tanner Smith 10:25.46, Landen Polniak 10:32.50, and Brandon Rivers 10:37.48 came in sixth, seventh and eighth and Aident Rivers 11:37.22 and Dylan Rivers 11:38.46 came in 11th and 12th.
Takaronhitake Thompson of Massena led the field in 8:58.33 followed by Hunter Mashaw 9:05.33 and Vandavian Way 9:17.50 of Gouverneur and Matt Richards 9:27:05 and Carson Colbert 9:28.40 of Norwood-Norfolk.
Gouverneur edged Norwood-Norfolk 27-30 to win the Modified Girls team title. Zoe Griffith 9:55.50 of Gouverneur led the field in 9:55.50 and Madyson O'Brien 10:06.94 of N-N took second in 10:06.94. Rounding out the top five were: Carly Bartholomew 10:07.79 and Mae Cummings 10:17.02 of Gouverneur and Arie Akins 10:17.74 of N-N.
OFA's two entries in the race were: Evelyn Davis 15:37.96 and Jessica Harman 15:49.52 who placed 29th and 30th.
