Updated: Sep 18, 2019

CANTON - Heading into Monday's NAC West Volleyball match at Canton, OFA Coach Sue McLean made sure her Lady Devils knew the size of the challenge they were facing.

"We all knew how it was going to be. Canton was the NAC West Co-Champion last year, they won the Class C Championship and they returned their starting unit. Canton is an outstanding team that does everything well," said Coach McLean accenting the importance of her team's five set win 15-25, 25-23, 25-22, 17-25, 25-20.

"And they have great crowd support. For us to win tonight was a total team effort and we went in with Rosie Jeneault playing with a wrist brace after spraining her wrist playing hockey and Celia Henry and Jhenna Mitchell were both battling back from illness. Now we have to prepare to host another outstanding team in Potsdam on Wednesday."

McLean said the stars illustrated the cohesive effort it took for OFA to climb to 3-0 on the season and drop Canton to 2-3.

Abby Raven delivered nine points, two aces, two kills and one block; Emma LeBeau produced 11 points, 2 aces, 1 assist and 2 digs, Jhenna Mitchell served for eight points, Celia Henry came through with 9 points, 3 aces, 2 kills, 1 assist and 2 digs, Rosie Jeneault scored 8 points with 1 ace, hit for 7 kills and added 5 digs; Emily Farrand scored eight points with 1 ace, 4 kills and 6 digs, Jordyn Tupper ran the offense with 13 assists and added 1 point, 1 ace and 2 digs, Gabrielle Morley contributed a kill and Melissa Barr garnered 12 digs in an outstanding defensive effort.

"We did a great job as a team at the service line and I think that the key to effort was our Blue Collar Blue Devil Mentality. The girls were ready to sacrifice to win and I am so proud of them."

According to Coach Carla Wentworth Canton's top performers were: Gretchen Warner; 15 kills, 2 blocks, 4 points , 3 aces; Grace Franklin; 3 kills, 2 digs, 14 points, 4 aces; Kelsea Whittier: 28 assists, 2 kills, 6 points, 2 aces and
