Planty, Troiano, Ross, McNally honored as OFA's Outstanding Senior Student-Athletes

Ogdensburg Free Academy honored its Outstanding Senior Student-Athletes at its recent graduation ceremony with the presentation of the Marilyn (May) Ferguson Memorila Award, the James A. Pinkerton Memorial Award, the Carolyn Elliott Memorial Award and James P. Seymour Memorial Award.

All four earned a host of athletic and academic awards over the course of their varsity careers.

The Marilyn (May) Ferguson Memorial Award is an athletic award presented to a well-rounded senior Female student-athlete who has made positive contributions to the Interscholastic Athletic Program and exemplifies those qualities our coaches want to see in OFA student-athletes.

The 2018-2019 Marilyn (May) Ferguson Memorial Award Recipient is Rileigh Planty who was an All-Northern Conference selection in volleyball and softball. She will attend SUNY Oneonta in the fall.

The James A. Pinkerton Memorial Award is an athletic award presented to a well-rounded senior Male student-athlete who has made positive contributions to the Interscholastic Athletic Program and exemplifies those qualities our coaches want to see in OFA student-athletes.

The 2018-2019 James A. Pinkerton Memorial Award Recipient is Jackson Troiano who earned All-Northern Conference honors in football, hockey and baseball playing leadership roles in division and Section 10 championships. He will attend Clarkson University in the fall.

The Carolyn Elliott Memorial Award is an athletic award presented to an outstanding senior Female student-athlete who embodies: Leadership in athletic and school activities, Scholarship with above average competence in academics, Service with awareness and concern for others, as well as Excellence in Athletics while exhibiting genuine interest and demonstrating sportsmanship.

The 2018-2019 Carolyn Elliott Memorial Award Recipient is Shelby Ross who excelled in soccer, basketball and track-field. She will attend SUNY Potsdam in the fall.

The James P. Seymour Memorial Award is an athletic award presented to an outstanding senior Male student-athlete who embodies: Leadership in athletic and school activities, Scholarship with above average competence in academics, Service with awareness and concern for others, as well as Excellence in Athletics while exhibiting genuine interest and demonstrating sportsmanship.

The winner of the award is Nate McNally who finished his career as one of the best distance runners in OFA history and one of the most decorated runners in Section 10 history. While showing extraordinary sportsmanship in supporting all runners. McNally earned MVP honors in cross country, indoor track-field and outdoor track-field.

He will continue his track-field career at the collegiate level at Nazareth College.
