Porter Helps SJF's Unbeaten Empire 8 Start

HOUGHTON, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College men's basketball team remained perfect in Empire 8 play on Saturday as the Cardinals ran away with a 93-56 decision inside The Nielson Center at Houghton College.  With the win, Fisher improved to 7-6 on the season and 2-0 in conference play while the host Highlanders fell to 2-11, 0-2, respectively. Six players finished in double figures led by Brendan Trapper who poured in 15 points to go along with five rebounds and a steal.  James Leone and Sammy Robinson finished with 11 points apiece with Leone pulling down six rebounds and coming up with three steals.  Dylan Harrington, who scored a career-high 20 points on Friday night, chipped in with 11 points and three assists off the bench while Dennis Hare and Matt Asenjo each contributed 10 pints in the win.  Sean Williams stuffed the stat sheet with five points, five rebounds, four dimes and two steals.

Canton's Louden Porter, who earned a place in the regular rotations as a junior, delivered five points, five rebounds and two assists from the backcourt in 23 minutes of action. As a team, Fisher was 34-for-75 (.453) from the floor and knocked down 11 3-pointers in all.  The Cardinals committed a season-low 10 turnovers and came away with 15 steals on the defensive end of the court. 

PORTER SCORES 11 VS ALFRED The St. John Fisher College men's basketball team benefited from 42 points from its bench including a career-high 20 points from Dylan Harrington in an 88-73 rout of Alfred University on Friday as Fisher won its conference opener inside Terry S. Galanis Family Gymnasium.  With the score knotted at 14-14 and nearly 10 minutes having ticked away in the first half, the Cardinals created some breathing room after scoring 10 of the game's next 14 points to take a seven-point advantage.  The lead would be short-lived, however, as Alfred buried back-to-back 3-pointers to pull to within one, 25-24.  Dylan Harrington led the team with 20 points off the bench as the senior was 8-for-9 from the floor including three from behind the arc to go along with five assists.  Robinson added 13 points in 12 minutes while 12 points, five boards and two dimes.  Canton's Louden Porter and Valeriani each finished with 11 points in the win.

Porter enjoyed a 4-5 shooting night, went 3-4 from 3-point range and grabbed two steals.  Fisher's season continues at 5:30 p.m. on Friday when it travels to Utica College for an Empire 8 clash.
