Quinnipiac Claims 1-0 Win In Third Close Game with Clarkson
Game three of the Men's Hockey series between Clarkson and Quinnipiac was nearly as close as the two before it, but the Knights were unable to score for the first time this season and fall on the road 1-0 to Quinnipiac on Sunday.
Ethan Haider made 15 saves in goal for the Knights while Keith Petruzzelli posted a 28-save shutout for Bobcats. Clarkson went 0 for 2 with the man advantage and killed off their only penalty kill of the night.
Clarkson gave up the games only goal at the 16:27 mark of the first period, when Ty Smilanic scored for his team leading 8th goal of the season. Shots were even after one period, but after that Clarkson owned the shot advantage, outshooting the Bobcats, 16-8 in the second and 6 to 1 in the final period. This was the first time the Knights have been shutout on the road since February 8th of 2019 when they lost 5-0 at Cornell.
Clarkson will host St. Lawrence on Friday and then travel to Appleton on Sunday for the first meeting of the season between the Route 11 rivals.
