Raven, Crosby Score Big In JCC Hoop Victory

The Lady Cannoneers of Jefferson Community College opened their home conference schedule of the new year with a 72-54 win over Cayuga CC on Tuesday night.

Both teams got off to a relatively slow start on the offensive end as they collected defensive stops possession after possession. Jefferson would take the slight edge to the locker room 26-23. The second half appeared to be a tale of two halves for the Lady Cannoneers, they would pick up the pace of the game and outscore the visiting Spartans 22-13 in the third quarter. The the 48-36 lead would only grow in the fourth quarter, with a continued attention to pace of play.

Sophomore guard Ashlyn Eyles would collect her second triple double of the year with 18 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds on the night. Sophomore forwards Chelsey Raven of Ogdensburg, and Alyson Crosby of Hammond would tally 26 and 20 points respectfully. Crosby would haul down 14 rebounds to log yet another double double on the year. The win moves Jefferson to 3-0 in Mid State play, and 6-6 overall on the year.
