Roos' Duo Wins Weekly NAC Softball Awards

Waterville, ME – Nicole Ferch and Alexis Fagnant have been tabbed the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Player and Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.

Ferch had a monster week in Florida hitting .419 (13-for-31) with two home runs, two doubles, two triples, eight runs and drove in a team-best 17 runs over eight games (4-4 record). Ferch had at least one hit in seven of the eight games last week including four multi-hit games and two three hit outings. The junior also drove in a run in seven of the eight games and had 2 or more RBI in six different contests. Ferch went 2-for-3 with two runs, a triple, a home run, a walk and 4 RBI in an 11-1 win v. Curry on Tuesday. She followed that up with a home run and 3 RBI in a loss to Wilmington (6-3) on Thursday. Ferch rounded out her week with a 3-for-5, 3 RBI performance in a loss to Brockport (2-2).

Fagnant hit .417 (10-for-24) with seven runs and 4 RBI over seven games last week. She also made four appearances on the mound earning a win and save with a 1.14 ERA over 12.1 innings. At the plate she went 3-for-6 with four runs and drove in a run and added a stolen base in a 16-8 win v. Elms on Tuesday.

\She followed that up with a 4-for-4 performance scoring twice in an 11-1 win v. Curry the same day. She also earned the victory on the mound v. the Colonels tossing a complete game without giving up a single earned run striking out five batters with six hits over five innings. Earlier in the week she picked up a save in an 8-6 win v. Nazareth pitching the final inning without allowing a hit as she fanned two batters.
