Roos' Fitch Honored As NAC Senior Scholar-Athlete
Waterville, ME – Andrew Fitch, who wrapped up his basketball career on the court at SUNY Canton last week, has been honored as the 2020-21 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Senior Scholar Athlete, as announced by the conference on Wednesday. Fitch has been a standout for four years on the men's basketball team twice being named the NAC Defensive Player of the Year and was named First Team All-Conference following the 2019-20 season. He also became the first SUNY Canton men's basketball player to be named CoSIDA Academic First Team All-District. He helped the Roos finish No. 1 in the nation in blocks per game (6.5) during the 2018-19 season and has been named to the NAC All-Academic and Sportsmanship Teams. During his sophomore season Fitch led the country in total blocks (98) and ranked second in blocks per game (3.63). Fitch also owns SUNY Canton's D-III era program record for single-season (98) and career (266) blocks. He has also previously earned the SUNY Chancellor's Scholar Athlete Award (2019) and the SUNY Canton Outstanding Associate Graduate Award (2019). Fitch will graduate in May with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology with minors in Mathematics and Applied Physics.
