Saints, Roos Win At Paul Smith's; VanBuren Takes 10th
Senior Abigail Collins finished in third place to lead the St. Lawrence University women's golf team to a first-place finish at the one-round Paul Smith's Invitational at the par-72 Saranac Inn Golf Club in Saranac Lake, New York on Saturday afternoon.
Abigail Collins shot a 106 to finish in third, while Gabrielle Collins finished in fifth with a 111.
Fiona Wang and Maggie O'Connell both tied for sixth place with a 114, while Maggie Munschauer finished 10th with a 129.
St. Lawrence finished with a combined 445, while SUNY Canton finished second with a 457 and SUNY Cobleskill's Emily Fyfe claimed the individual title with an 88, shooting 16 over par.
The Saints will wrap up the Fall portion of their schedule at the Nazareth Invitational on
First-year Peyton Knauf shot par and claimed his first collegiate individual title, leading the St. Lawrence University men's golf team to a second-place finish at the one-round Paul Smith's Invitational at the par-72 Saranac Inn Golf Club in Saranac Lake, New York on Saturday afternoon.
Nicholas Aubry tied for third place with a 75, while Hunter Litterio tied for seventh with a 78. Madrid-Waddington product Grant VanBuren tied for 10th place with an 82, while Will Luke tied for 13th with an 83.
Paul Grant, Chris Ogden, and Caleb Hamblen also competed for the Saints. Grant stroked an 85 to tie for 16th, while Ogden tied for 19th with an 87 and Hamblen finished 24th with a 92.
SUNY Canton's 'A' squad claimed first place with a 307, while the Saints 'Scarlet" team took second with a 312 and the Roos' 'B' squad finished third with a 333. St. Lawrence's 'Brown" squad finished fourth with a 342.
The Saints will compete in the fall round of the Liberty League Championships on October 5-6 at the Turning Stone's Kaluhyat Course in Verona, New York, before wrapping up the fall portion of their schedule at the Nazareth Invitational on October 12-13.
ROOS TAKE FIRST
Josh Marshall and Ashley Gillies posted a pair of second place finishes as the SUNY Canton men’s golf team posted a first-place finish and the women finished runner-up on Saturday at Saranac Inn Golf Club.
Marshall posted a round of 2-over-par 74, while Matthew Russell and Azzat Almasri tallied rounds of 75 to tie for third place individually.The Roos A team shot a season-low round of 307 to finish in first place out of the six-team field.
St. Lawrence’s A team was five strokes back at 312, while the Roos B team posted a third-place finish at 333.
Nolan Cod 78 and Devin Page 80 rounded out Roos' scoring. Massena's Jake Amo and Madrid-Waddington product added rounds of 85 and 91.
On the women’s side Ashley Gillies posted a 97 to finish alone in second place, while Harley Loran finished with a 108. Alyssa Allen (121), Kiona Loran (131) and Denika Foster (154) rounded out the Roo competitors.St. Lawrence finished with a team score of 445 to just edge out
