SLU Named To Coaches Association Academic Top 25
CANTON - The 2018-19 St. Lawrence University women's basketball team has been named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll. The Saints collectively posted a 3.592 GPA last year, which ranks 13th among NCAA Division III teams in the nation. "I am really honored to be coaching this group of young ladies who are very intense and focused in the classroom," said St. Lawrence head coach DanRoiger. "They have high expectations and put in the time and effort to reach their goals. I always tell recruits I want to compete for championships, but more important to me is that they reach their potential in the classroom and prepare to pursue any challenge they want after they graduate from St. Lawrence. Our team is certainly doing that right now and everyone associated with our program is really proud of their efforts and accomplishments." St. Lawrence has earned WBCA Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll distinction twice during Roiger's tenure; the team 2011-12 team ranked seventh nationally, and the Saints' team GPA was less than 0.01 points away from earning recognition last year. "At St. Lawrence, we value the entire student-athlete experience," said Director of Athletics and Recreation Bob Durocher. "Some of the best students we have on campus are also leaders on our athletic teams. Success requires everyone on the team to do their part, and our women's basketball players certainly did their part on the floor and in the classroom last year. It's great to see them recognized by the WBCA for their efforts."
