SLU's Adamson, Sargent, Frederick Earn League Honors
St. Lawrence University First-year forward Trent Adamson was named Liberty League Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the second time this season, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon. Adamson helped guide the Saints to a 1-1 week with a 78-74 win over RIT on Friday, and a 93-77 loss to Hobart on Saturday. He tallied a team-best 21 points and added five rebounds, two blocks and a steal against the Tigers and posted another team-best with 25 points, six rebounds and two steals against the Statesmen. Adamson shot 18-for-35 from the floor, a perfect 10-for-10 from the line and totaled 46 points, 11 rebounds, three steals, two blocks and two assists on the weekend. Sophomore Cale Sargent, a former Ogdensburg, also earned a spot on Liberty League weekly honor roll. Sargent went 6-7 from the three-point range on the weekend scoring 15 points against RIT and a season-high 20 points against Hobart. The Saints, now 5-10 on the season and 3-6 in conference play, will host Clarkson for a Route-11 rivalry matchup on Tuesday, January 28 at 7:30 p.m.
FREDERICK REPEAT PERFORMER OF WEEK
Junior forward Katie Frederick repeated as the Liberty League Performer of the Week for women's basketball, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. Frederick powered the Saints to a 2-0 conference weekend with a 69-56 win over RIT on Friday and a 70-54 win over William Smith on Saturday. She posted her eighth and ninth double-doubles of the season with 12 points and 13 rebounds in the win over the Tigers and a career-high 28 points and 14 rebounds in the win over the Herons. She shot 17-for-28 from the floor, 6-for-7 from the line and totaled 40 points, 27 rebounds, four blocks, three assists, and three steals on the weekend. The Saints posted their fifth straight win after topping William Smith on Saturday, and are now 11-5 on the season and 7-2 in conference play. St. Lawrence is scheduled to host Clarkson on Tuesday, January 28 at 5:30 p.m.
