SUNY Canton Duo Earns Conference Awards

Waterville, ME Sophomore Dawson Pellerin and freshman Ashton Houppert have earned weekly honors from the North Atlantic Conference (NAC), as announced on Monday.

Pellerin, the NAC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, stopped seven shots to lead the Roos to a 1-1 double overtime draw v. SUNY Potsdam on Wednesday. The draw is the first positive result for SUNY Canton v. the Bears in school history after losing one goal games the past four seasons. The goal given up by Pellerin is the first goal he has conceded in 310 minutes of action this season and it came via a penalty kick. SUNY Canton is unbeaten through four games for the first time in at least the last 10 seasons.

Houppert, the NAC Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week, averaged 2.69 assists and 2.00 digs per set over four matches last weekend. The freshman posted a season-high 17 assists in a loss to SUNY Poly and tallied her first double-double with 12 assists and 11 digs in a setback v. Rochester.
