SUNY Canton Notes Women In Sports Day

CANTON – The SUNY Canton Athletics department took time out of their Saturday to host a group of area girls to engage in activities and exercise in the Roos House as part of National Girls and Women in Sports Day.

Following the women’s hockey contest v. Anna Maria College on February 15th, SUNY Canton's female student-athletes hosted a number of activities for youth ladies from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Roos Fieldhouse.

Some of the games included freeze tag, Kelsey Says (a knock-off of Simon Says) and fun relays.

February 2020 marks the 34th Annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD). For more than three decades, this celebration has empowered women and girls to get moving, reap the benefits of physical activity and push past their limits both in sports and in life. The confidence, strength and character gained through sports and physical activity are the very tools girls need to become strong leaders, in their own lives and in the world.
