SUNY Men's Hockey Hosts Alumni Weekend

CANTON – The SUNY Canton men’s hockey team is set to host its annual Alumni Weekend when it hosts Skidmore College on Saturday, November 23, 2019 in the Roos House at 7 p.m. The program is celebrating 60 years of hockey and will be retiring Cory Bercume’s jersey, a local hockey player that played for the Roos from 2009-2011.

Bercume lost his life while attending SUNY Canton. Cory was an integral part of the Roos program while they transitioned to the NCAA D-III level. He was from Potsdam, NY and played minor and high school hockey for the Potsdam Sandstoners while spending a brief time in Brockville, Ontario playing for the Brockville Braves in the CJHL. SUNY Canton will also be honoring legendary coaches Ronald “Obie” O’Brien and Terry Martin for all of their success during their times as head coaches from 1964-1999 with banners in the Roos House ice rink. O’Brien won 2 NJCAA championships and seven regional titles while compiling a 147-33-1 record and Terry Martin won a total of 12 NJCAA championships during his tenure and retired with a record of 527-211-29. The weekend features multiple events for alums including a meet up at the Hoot Owl, a tour of the Roos House, lunch with the team, and a pregame ceremony on Saturday evening.
