Trathen, Kerr Hit Safely In Roos' Twinbill

FORT MYERS, FLThe SUNY Canton baseball team dropped a pair of contests to Defiance College by scores of 10-3 and 6-0 on Thursday on their fifth day of competition during their Florida trip.

HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME 1

Nathan Welch (Malone) provided one hit and drove in a run, while Collin Trathen (Heuvelton) had the other hit for the Roos in the opener. Zach Miner reached base twice on a pair of walks. Lane Good earned the win on the mound for Defiance tossing four innings of one hit ball in relief giving up one earned run with a strike out and walk. Shane Tiernan (Waddington) took the loss for Canton surrendering four earned runs on eight hits and three walks with nine strike outs in six innings.

GAME 2

Dawson Kerr (Heuvelton), Jack Brill, Danny Vargus and Zack Swartz all recorded hits but the Roos were shut out 6-0 by Defiance in the nightcap.

Miner took the loss on the mound for the Roos tossing 4.1 innings giving up just two earned runs with three walks and two strike outs in 4.1 innings. Jamere Griffin allowed just two hits and a walk and no runs in 1.2 innings of relief work.

Brant Richardson picked up the win throwing six innings of four hit ball with one walk and one strike out.

WHAT'S NEXT The Roos are back in action on Friday when they square off with Plymouth State at 3 p.m.
