Vielhauer Helps SLU Runners To Second

CANTON - St. Lawrence University senior Dadley Ogetii won the Ronald C. Hoffmann Invitational to lead the Saints to a second-place finish on their home course on Saturday morning.

Ogetii led a group of 277 finishers, winning the eight-kilometer race in 25 minutes, 26.2 seconds, 3.4 seconds ahead of Rochester's Ivan Frantz. The time was goof for a pace of 5:06 per mile.

Evan Page was eighth for the Saints, while Patrick Mortensen finished in 10th place.

The Saints scored 64 points, just 10 behind 27th-ranked Ithaca in the 21-team field. SUNY Oneonta was third with 90 points, while Rochester was fourth with 125

SLU Women Fourth

Ashley Walker finished in fourth place and Catherine Kluchinski was ninth to lead the St. Lawrence University women's cross country team to fourth place at the 20-team Ronald C. Hoffmann Invitational on their home course on Saturday afternoon in Canton.

Walker covered the six-kilometer course in 22 minutes, 52.2 seconds, good for a pace of 6:09 per mile. Ithaca College's Parley Hannan won the race in 22:08.9. Kluchinski was just over 20 seconds behind Walker.

Twenty-fifth-ranked Rochester won the meet with 59 points. RIT, ranked 21st nationally, was second with 92, with Ithaca third with 108. St. Lawrence was just three points behind Ithaca in fourth, and New Paltz was fifth with 125.

"Today's race was a fantastic opportunity to bring the region to St. Lawrence University to showcase one of the premier courses in the region. Collectively, our women had our best race of the season to date with Ashley Walker turning in a highlight performance and fourth-place finish. We will look forward to going on the road to Conn College next weekend to see high level inter-regional competition before gearing up for the Liberty League Championships."
