Wildcats Gain Central Win Over Potsdam

GOUVERNEUR - Gouverneur Central gained a 65-57 its first NAC Central Boys Basketball win over Potsdam on Wednesday night. For Gouverneur Caden Storie scored a career-high 26 points with six 3-pointers followed 13 from Brock Cox (7-8 free throw shooting) and Garrett LeClair and 10 from Connor Wood 10. Potsdam's Noah Dominy scored an outstanding game-high of 35 points with 10-12 free throw shooting and Aiden Stickles tallied 10. "We did not play well in the first half. We turned it over too many times and missed too many open looks. In the second half Caden Storie grew up for us and hit some big shots," said Gouverneur Coach John Free whose team eventually 29 forced turnovers.

"Our pressure was much better and we controlled the pace. We need to build off this win as we go forward."

In two Central Division Girls Basketball games Canton (9-0, 12-1) downed St. Lawrence Central (3-6, 5-8) 63-49 and Massena (6-3, 7-5) dropped Potsdam (0-8, 1-9) 58-37.

Noah Dominy scored 35 points but it wasn't enough as Gouverneur, led by Stone's 26 points (6 3's), forced 29 turnovers enroute to a 65-57 victory over Potsdam.

For Gouverneur, Cox chipped in with 13 points, including 7 for 8 from the foul line, and Wood scored 10.
